Connection type

From your last PSPCL bill, in rupees.

Assumed ₹7.5 for a home. Your bill shows your own rate; type it for a closer estimate.

Shade-free area. We check it against the size beside your result.

For a ₹4,000 monthly bill, about 4.5 kW. It could make about 540 units a month and offset up to ₹4,000 a month of energy charges. Subsidy about ₹78,000.

Suggested system size

4.5kW

Covers about 100% of the units you use.

Subsidy and price

PM Surya Ghar subsidy, about₹78,000

Your price is itemised after a site survey: modules, inverter, structure, cables and labour, line by line. We do not guess it here.

  • You still pay PSPCL fixed and meter charges after solar.
  • Punjab's free-units scheme for homes is not included in this estimate.
  • An estimate, not a quote. A site survey sets the real size and price.

How the numbers are worked out

Every figure above comes from the assumptions below. None of them is a measurement of your roof.

Yield
120 units per kW a month About 4 units per kW a day, assumed for rooftop plants in every region we serve, hill sites included. Real output moves with season, shade, tilt and dust.
Tariff
₹8 per unit, for homes and businesses Starting values only. Type your own rate from your bill. It turns your bill into units used. Your bill also carries fixed and meter charges, which solar does not remove, so the unit count is approximate and the result is an upper bound.
Energy charges offset
Units the plant makes, up to the units you use, at your tariff Upper bound: your bill also carries fixed and meter charges that solar does not remove. It is not the saving on your bill.
PM Surya Ghar subsidy
₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW, capped at ₹78,000 Homes only. Himachal Pradesh is a special-category state with higher amounts: ₹33,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹19,800 for the 3rd kW, capped at ₹85,800. It needs DCR modules and an application on the national portal. Check the current rules before you decide. pmsuryaghar.gov.in
Roof area
100 sq ft of shade-free roof per kW If you enter your usable area, we warn you when the suggested size will not fit.
Size limits
Up to 10 kW for homes, 500 kW for businesses Bigger loads need a site survey and a proper design.
State
PSPCL for Punjab, UHBVN or DHBVN for Haryana, HPSEBL for Himachal, CPDL for Chandigarh The state switch changes the DISCOM named in the help text and the notes beside your result, and the subsidy for Himachal Pradesh. The size and energy sums are identical in every region because yield and tariff figures are not separately verified for each.

From estimate to quote

The calculator puts you in the right range. A site survey replaces its assumptions with your roof, your shade and your meter, and the quote follows from those.
