Subsidy
- How much subsidy can I get?
Under PM Surya Ghar, central assistance is ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, up to ₹78,000 in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Himachal Pradesh is a special-category state and gets ₹33,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹19,800 for the third kW, up to ₹85,800. You need DCR modules and an application on the national portal. The central government sets these amounts and can change them.
PM Surya Ghar national portal(opens in a new tab)- Who can apply for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy?
The scheme is for households that want rooftop solar on their own home. You apply on the national portal, and the full eligibility rules are published there. The government can revise them, so read the current version before you apply.
- Do businesses and factories get this subsidy?
No. PM Surya Ghar is for households. A business plant is sized and priced on its own load and working hours. Ask your tax adviser whether any depreciation or tax benefit applies to you.
- Does the state add to the central subsidy?
In Punjab we found no state top-up on the solar subsidy. Separately, press reports say Punjab gives 300 free units a month (600 per two-month bill) for domestic connections, continued in the 2026-27 tariff; if a two-month bill goes over 600 units the whole bill is charged, except for SC, BC, BPL and freedom-fighter households. Haryana has announced extra state help for low-income families: ₹50,000 for Antyodaya families earning up to ₹1.8 lakh a year (up to 2 kW), and ₹10,000 per kW up to ₹20,000 for incomes of ₹1.8 to 3 lakh. It is first come, first served, so we confirm availability with HAREDA and your DISCOM before counting on it. In Himachal Pradesh we found no state top-up either. In Chandigarh no extra Union Territory subsidy is confirmed.
- Is PM‑KUSUM open for solar pumps now?
PEDA states that the ministry closed PM‑KUSUM 1.0 on 31 December 2025 and that new allocations follow the launch of PM‑KUSUM 2.0, so no Punjab pump window is open now. In Haryana, HAREDA posted notices for 2025-26 and we found no 2026-27 window; applications go through the SARAL portal when one opens. In Himachal Pradesh the central grant is 50 percent of the benchmark cost and we found no open window. We tell you when a new window opens.
Farms and solar pumps- Can a housing society get the subsidy?
Yes, for common facilities. PM Surya Ghar pays ₹18,000 per kW for common-facility plants of a group housing society or resident welfare association, up to 500 kW at 3 kW per house. Individual rooftop plants of residents count inside that limit.
Housing societies- What are DCR modules?
DCR means domestic content requirement: the solar cells and modules are made in India. PM Surya Ghar pays its subsidy only for plants that use DCR modules. Ask for the model name and the manufacturer certificate.

Net metering in Punjab
- Do you handle net metering?
Yes. We file the net-metering application and coordinate the DISCOM inspection with PSPCL in Punjab, UHBVN or DHBVN in Haryana, HPSEBL in Himachal Pradesh, or CPDL in Chandigarh.
- How does net metering work in Punjab?
PSPCL approves the plant, and a bi-directional meter counts the units you draw and the units you export. Your bill is based on the net. The rules are set by PSERC.
Punjab solar hub- How long does PSPCL take to approve?
PSPCL and PSERC set the timelines, and they depend on plant size and area. We do not quote a fixed number here. Ask us for the current expectation for your connection.
- What do I still pay PSPCL after solar?
You still pay PSPCL fixed and meter charges after solar.
- Does the free-units scheme change my savings?
Yes. Punjab's free-units scheme for homes is not included in this estimate. If most of your use is already inside the free units, solar saves less on the energy part of your bill. Press reports also say that when a two-month bill goes over 600 units the whole bill is charged, so the units you still buy from PSPCL after solar matter. Bring twelve months of bills to the survey.
- Is there a net-metering application fee in Punjab?
A PSERC order is reported to waive the application and meter-testing fees for domestic systems up to 10 kW that are linked to PM Surya Ghar. That comes from press reports, so confirm it with PSPCL when you apply.
Net metering in Haryana
- Do you work in Haryana?
Yes. We serve Haryana from our Ludhiana office. Net metering is filed with UHBVN or DHBVN, depending on your area, and PM‑KUSUM pump applications go through HAREDA.
Haryana solar hub- Which DISCOM handles my application in Haryana?
It depends on your district. UHBVN serves Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Rohtak and Jhajjar. DHBVN serves Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh, Gurugram, Mahendergarh, Rewari, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa and Jind. We file with the right one.
- Is net metering in Haryana different from Punjab?
The sequence is the same: application, approval, installation, inspection, meter, commissioning. The DISCOMs and the regulator (HERC) are different, so forms, fees and timelines differ. Haryana net metering is reported to be capped at 500 kW per consumer, with gross metering directed above that. We handle the filing for your area.
- How long does approval take in Haryana?
HERC and your DISCOM set the timelines. A July 2024 amendment is reported to skip the technical-feasibility study for systems up to 10 kW when the application is complete, with feasibility decided in 15 days or deemed granted. Ask us for the current expectation for your area.
SolarQuarter, 16 Jul 2024(opens in a new tab)- Is there a Haryana state top-up on the subsidy?
Haryana has announced extra state help for low-income families: ₹50,000 for Antyodaya families earning up to ₹1.8 lakh a year (up to 2 kW), and ₹10,000 per kW up to ₹20,000 for incomes of ₹1.8 to 3 lakh. It is first come, first served, so we confirm availability with HAREDA and your DISCOM before counting on it.
The Tribune, 17 Jun 2024(opens in a new tab)- What do I still pay UHBVN or DHBVN after solar?
You still pay UHBVN or DHBVN fixed and meter charges after solar. HERC sets one slab tariff for all of Haryana; use the per-unit rate on your bill.
Net metering in Himachal Pradesh
- Do you work in Himachal Pradesh?
Yes. We serve Himachal Pradesh from our Ludhiana office. Net metering is filed with HPSEBL, the state regulator is HPERC, and the state agency is HIMURJA.
Himachal Pradesh solar hub- How much PM Surya Ghar subsidy does a home in Himachal get?
Himachal Pradesh is a special-category state, so central assistance is higher: ₹33,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹19,800 for the third kW, up to ₹85,800 for 3 kW or more. You still need DCR modules and an application on the national portal. We found no Himachal state top-up.
PM Surya Ghar national portal(opens in a new tab)- What are the net-metering limits in Himachal Pradesh?
Under the June 2024 amendment to the HPERC rooftop rules, a plant can be up to 10 kW on a single-phase connection, 20 kW on a three-phase connection and 1 MW at 11 kV or higher. Systems up to 10 kW need no technical feasibility study. Confirm the current limits with HPSEBL before you size a plant.
HPERC, 12 Jun 2024(opens in a new tab)- Do I need a separate net-metering agreement in Himachal?
An HPERC amendment notified on 19 August 2026 makes the distribution company accept a digital metering connection agreement inside the online application, so a PM Surya Ghar applicant no longer needs a separate net-metering agreement. Confirm with HPSEBL when you apply.
HPERC, 19 Aug 2026(opens in a new tab)- Does Himachal Pradesh give free electricity units?
Press reports say Himachal gives 125 free units a month to domestic connections and has not ended it, but we found no dated 2026 order that confirms it. Himachal's free units for homes and its subsidised slabs are not included in this estimate. Read your own bills and confirm the rule with HPSEBL before you size a plant.
- What do I still pay HPSEBL after solar?
You still pay HPSEBL fixed and meter charges after solar. Himachal's free units for homes and its subsidised slabs are not included in this estimate.
Net metering in Chandigarh
- Do you work in Chandigarh?
Yes. We serve Chandigarh from our Ludhiana office. Net metering is filed with CPDL, the regulator is JERC, and the Union Territory's renewable energy agency is CREST.
Chandigarh solar hub- Is rooftop solar compulsory in Chandigarh?
Rooftop solar has been mandatory for houses on plots of 500 sq yd and above since 2016, and for government, institutional and commercial buildings. Extending it to smaller plots has been proposed, so check the current bylaws and ask CREST whether your plot is covered.
Chandigarh solar hub- What happens to unused banked units in Chandigarh?
Units you export beyond your use are banked as credit. Any credit left at the end of the financial year is settled at the average power purchase cost that JERC approves. CPDL was reported to credit ₹3.61 a unit for 2025-26. Check the current rate with CPDL.
Business News This Week, 4 Jul 2026(opens in a new tab)- How much subsidy does a home in Chandigarh get?
Chandigarh gets the general-category PM Surya Ghar amounts: ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, up to ₹78,000. No extra Union Territory subsidy is confirmed, so do not count on one.
PM Surya Ghar national portal(opens in a new tab)- Who supplies power in Chandigarh now?
CPDL (Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited) has run power distribution in the Union Territory since 1 February 2025, per press reports. The UT Electricity Department did before that. Net-metering applications go to CPDL.
CPDL(opens in a new tab)- What do I still pay CPDL after solar?
You still pay CPDL fixed and meter charges after solar. CPDL bills on a slab tariff set by JERC; use the per-unit rate on your bill.
Installation
- How long does installation take?
The crew time depends on the size of the plant and the roof. Approvals and net metering depend on your DISCOM and take longer. After the survey we give you a schedule for your site.
- What happens at the site survey?
We measure the roof, check shade and orientation, note where the inverter and meter will go, and read your bills. You get an itemised quote and a 3D layout.
Book site survey- How much roof space do I need?
As an estimate, about 100 sq ft of shade-free roof per kW, so a 3 kW plant needs about 300 sq ft. The survey confirms it for your roof.
- Can I install solar without net metering?
A grid-connected plant needs DISCOM approval, and PM Surya Ghar supports grid-connected rooftop plants. An off-grid plant with batteries does not export, and costs more to run over its life. We will tell you which fits your site.
Cleaning and maintenance
- How often should panels be cleaned?
In dusty seasons, every 2 to 4 weeks. We set a schedule after looking at your site.
Panel cleaning- Do you maintain plants installed by others?
Yes. Our Wash, Care and Assure plans cover plants installed by any company.
Operations and maintenance- Can I clean the panels myself?
A reachable ground array can be cleaned with a soft brush and clean water in the early morning or evening. Do not use pressure jets, do not walk on the modules, and do not climb a roof without fall protection. For roofs, use a trained crew.
- How do I know my plant is producing enough?
Compare the inverter units on clear days in the same season. A drop on clear days points to dust, new shade or a fault. Monitoring alerts you without waiting for the bill.
Monitoring
Payments
- Is the savings estimate a quote?
No. The estimate uses typical yields and the tariff you enter. A site survey gives you an itemised quote.
- When does the subsidy reach me?
Under PM Surya Ghar the government pays the subsidy to your bank account after the plant is commissioned and verified on the portal. You pay your installer for the plant first. The portal states the current timeline.
- Can I use a bank loan?
Banks lend for rooftop solar, and the national portal points to the options. Rates and terms are set by the bank, not by us. We give you an itemised quote you can show to the bank.
- What does an itemised quote include?
Every line is priced on its own: modules, inverter, structure, cables and protection, installation, and the net-metering and subsidy filing. You can compare it with another installer line by line.
Partners
- What is the white-label CRM?
It is our solar CRM, offered to installers, EPCs and vendors under their own name. It handles leads, quotes, 3D designs, subsidy paperwork and maintenance.
See the partner page- Can you take on field work for my customers?
Yes. We take on O&M and panel cleaning, site surveys with 3D design, and installation crews for other installers. Your customer stays your customer.
B2B field services- How much does the CRM cost?
Pricing depends on team size and modules. We share it on the demo call.
