Standards we work to.

The lists, codes and utility rules we design to in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. This page lists standards, not certificates.

Modules

Two lists decide which modules you can use, and your subsidy depends on one of them.

ALMM-listed modules

The government list of approved module makers.

MNRE publishes the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Where a scheme or a utility asks for it, we quote only modules that are on the list, and we check the listing again before ordering.

DCR modules for subsidy

Modules made with domestic cells, which the PM Surya Ghar subsidy requires.

If you want the central subsidy, the quote names domestic content requirement (DCR) modules. If you do not, the quote can use other listed modules and shows the difference.

IS and IEC standards for modules

Test standards that a module datasheet should cite.

We read module datasheets and test reports against IS 14286 and IEC 61215 for design qualification and IEC 61730 for safety.

Inverters, protection and safety

What keeps the plant, the building and the people on the roof safe.

IS and IEC standards for inverters

Safety and grid-behaviour standards for grid-tied inverters.

We check inverter datasheets for IEC 62109-1 and 62109-2 (safety), IEC 62116 (anti-islanding, so the inverter stops feeding a dead grid) and IEC 61683 (efficiency).

Earthing and lightning protection practice

Every metal frame bonded to earth, and arrestors where the site needs them.

Earthing of the array frame, inverter and AC side follows IS 3043 practice. Lightning protection follows the IEC 62305 series, sized to the building and its exposure.

CEA safety regulations

The national safety rules for electrical installations.

The Central Electricity Authority safety regulations govern isolation, protection and working practice on electrical installations. Designs include the isolators and protection they call for, and crews work to them on site.

DISCOM net-metering technical requirements

Each utility sets the rules a solar system must meet before it can be connected and metered.

These cover the inverter, the protection, the meter and the inspection before connection. They differ between Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, and we file the application against the utility that supplies your connection.

Punjab

Utility
PSPCL Punjab State Power Corporation Limited
Regulator
PSERC Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission
State agency
PEDA Punjab Energy Development Agency
Net metering
Net metering under the PSERC rooftop solar regulations; a PSERC order waives application and meter-testing fees for PM Surya Ghar systems.
Punjab solar hub

Haryana

Utility
UHBVN Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Northern HaryanaDHBVN Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Southern Haryana
Regulator
HERC Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission
State agency
HAREDA Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency
Net metering
Net metering under the HERC rooftop solar regulations up to 500 kW per consumer; gross metering above that.
Haryana solar hub

Himachal Pradesh

Utility
HPSEBL Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited
Regulator
HPERC Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission
State agency
HIMURJA Himachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency
Net metering
Net metering under the HPERC rooftop solar regulations: up to 10 kW on single-phase and 20 kW on three-phase connections (1 MW at 11 kV); systems up to 10 kW need no feasibility study.
Himachal Pradesh solar hub

Chandigarh

Utility
CPDL Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited
Regulator
JERC Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for Goa and Union Territories
UT agency
CREST Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society
Net metering
Net metering under the JERC rooftop solar regulations; surplus units banked at the end of the financial year are credited at the rate JERC approves. Confirm current limits with CPDL.
Local rule
Rooftop solar has been mandatory for houses on plots of 500 sq yd and above since 2016, and for government, institutional and commercial buildings. Extending it to smaller plots has been proposed.

Ask any installer for these

Standards only help if you can see them on paper. Ask us, or anyone else you are comparing, for each of these before you pay an advance.

Book site survey
  • The module make and model, with its datasheet and test report
  • Proof that the module is on the ALMM list, and a DCR certificate if you want the subsidy
  • The inverter make and model, with its datasheet
  • A single-line diagram that shows isolators, protection and earthing
  • A copy of the DISCOM application filed for your connection
  • A commissioning report with your first readings

Let's put your roof to work.

We survey roofs across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh from Ludhiana. You get an itemised quote, a 3D layout and a clear path through subsidy and net metering.
