Rooftop solar for your home

Home systems from 1 to 10 kW, with the PM Surya Ghar subsidy and net metering filed for you in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Chandigarh.

  1. Sun up. Panels on.
  2. Daytime power runs your home first.
  3. What you do not use goes to the grid.
  4. Your meter turns back.
  5. The bill shrinks.
  6. Fixed and meter charges still apply.

What the PM Surya Ghar subsidy pays

Central assistance for rooftop solar on homes, paid by size. It rises quickly for the first 3 kW, then stops.

Central assistance by slab, general category and Himachal special category
SlabPunjab, Haryana and ChandigarhHimachal
First 2 kW₹30,000 per kW₹33,000 per kW
Third kW₹18,000₹19,800
4 kW and aboveNo more, total capped at ₹78,000No more, total capped at ₹85,800
  • Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh get the general amounts. Himachal Pradesh is a special-category state, so its amounts are higher.
  • You need DCR modules and an application on the national portal.
  • The scheme runs until March 2027 (FY 2026-27).
  • The central government sets these amounts and can change them. We check the portal when we write your quote.

PM Surya Ghar subsidy in Punjab

₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000. Punjab gets the general amounts.

Net metering rules

Net metering under the PSERC rooftop solar regulations; a PSERC order waives application and meter-testing fees for PM Surya Ghar systems. Rules change, so we confirm them with PSPCL for your connection.

Free units for homes

300 free units a month (600 per two-month bill) for domestic connections, continued in the 2026-27 tariff; if a two-month bill goes over 600 units the whole bill is charged, except for SC, BC, BPL and freedom-fighter households. Our savings estimates do not include it.

What your system includes

  • Modules that qualify for the subsidy

ALMM-listed modules with domestic content (DCR). PM Surya Ghar pays out only on DCR modules.

  • Grid-tied inverter

Sized to the array and your sanctioned load, with the settings your DISCOM expects.

  • Mounting structure

Fitted to your roof type and tilt, with the footprint and bolt points planned at survey.

  • Earthing and protection

DC and AC protection devices, earthing and surge protection on the string and the board.

  • Net meter filing

We file the net-metering application and coordinate the DISCOM inspection and meter swap.

  • Five years of maintenance

The scheme makes the installer responsible for five years of maintenance. Cleaning visits can be added.

From survey to switch-on

  1. Survey

We measure the shade-free roof, check your sanctioned load and read a recent bill.

  2. Quote

You get an itemised quote and a layout drawing, with the subsidy shown separately.

  3. Apply

We prepare the PM Surya Ghar and DISCOM applications for you to sign.

  4. Install

The crew mounts the structure and panels, wires the inverter and tests the system.

  5. Switch on

Your DISCOM inspects and swaps the meter. After that the meter can run backwards.

How much roof space do I need?

As a working assumption, about 100 sq ft of shade-free roof per kW. A 3 kW system then needs around 300 sq ft. We measure the real figure at the survey, because water tanks, stair rooms and parapet shade change it.

What happens in a power cut?

A grid-tied system switches itself off during a grid outage, for the safety of line workers. Power during outages needs a hybrid system with batteries, which we quote separately.

How long does it take?

Installation itself usually takes a few days once materials arrive. Approvals and the net meter depend on your DISCOM, so we give you a timeline after the survey instead of a promise before it.

What maintenance does a home system need?

Dust is the main one. In dusty seasons, clean every 2 to 4 weeks, and have the earthing, connectors and inverter log checked once a year. See panel cleaning plans.

Can I add panels later?

Often yes, if you have spare shade-free roof and the inverter, wiring and sanctioned load can take it. It is usually cheaper to size the system correctly the first time, so we plan for growth at survey.

Do I get the subsidy with any panels?

No. PM Surya Ghar needs DCR modules and an application on the national portal. The central government sets the amounts and can change them, so we check the portal when we write your quote.
